Organizers: Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic, Department of Culture, Sports, Family and Youth of Uzhgorod City Council
The aims of the contest:
-enrichment and promotion of the cultural heritage of Ukraine;
-identification and support of creative and gifted youth, popularization of creativity of Ukrainian and foreign composers;
-exchange of scientific and methodical experience of development and prestige of the Ukrainian national school of wind instruments performing;
-attraction of public attention to the problems of brass music in Transcarpathia, Ukraine and worldwide;
-exchange of experience and improvement of the qualifications of teachers of primary and professional specialized art schools.
The order of the competition
The order of the competition includes:
- the solemn opening ceremony of the Contest;
- competitive listenings;
- press conferences, master classes, creative meetings with artists;
- a solemn award ceremony and a final gala concert of the winners.
The competition is held in three age categories:
Junior group - 12-14 years inclusive;
Middle group - 15-17 years inclusive;
Senior group - 18-20 years inclusive.
Terms of the competition
Soloists-instrumentalists - performers on wooden wind instruments, copper wind instruments and percussion instruments are invited to participate in the competition:
- students of higher art educational institutions of the I-II levels of accreditation;
- pupils of primary specialized art schools;
- pupils of special musical schools.
- wooden wind instruments (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone);
- copper wind instruments (pipe, horn, trombone / baritone, tub);
- percussion instruments (xylophone, marimba)
For participants - soloists of the junior group, the competition is held in one round, for the middle and senior groups - in two rounds. Age of participants is taken into account on the day of the beginning of the competition.
The order of the performances is determined by drawing, which is held on the day of arrival of the participants of the Contest. The serial number is kept until the end of the Contest
All works of the competition program are performed by heart. Changes in the declared program are not allowed.
The jury consists of leading artists and teachers, representatives of culture and art from different regions of Ukraine and Europe.
According to the results of the 1st round (in the junior category) and the second round (in the middle and senior categories), the jury defines the "Laureates" of І, II and III degrees and the title of "diploma" (for each instrument) of the "I-st open competition of performers on wind instruments and percussion instruments named after Stepan Tomich”
Other participants are awarded with diplomas for participation.
The Grand Prix winner (in the senior and middle age categories) is determined in an additional creative competition among the laureates of their first prizes.
The jury has the right not to award a diploma of a certain degree or to divide it among the contestants. The jury's decision is final and cannot be reviewed.
The winners of the competition perform at the final Gala Concert.
Competition is not a commercial event.
The travel, accommodation and meals of the participants of the competition are carried out at the expense of the participants or at the expense of the sending party.
I category (junior)
Two compositions of different character of a small form by the choice of the participants, one of which is a composition of a Ukrainian composer or composer of a participant's country + virtuoso composition
II category (middle)
1. Parts I or II-III of the composition of a large form (or work of medium, expanded form)
2. Virtuoso composition of a Ukrainian composer or composer of a participant's country.

III Category (senior)
1. Parts I or II-III of the composition of a large form (or a composition of a medium form)
2. Original work of the Ukrainian composer or composer of the participant's country
1. Two different types of works (the original work of a Ukrainian composer or composer of the participant's country from the 1st round and a work by the choice of participants)
2. Virtuoso composition.
The order of composition performing is up to the performers.
Junior age group - up to 7 minutes;
Middle age group - up to 12-15 minutes;
Senior age group - up to 20 minutes.
The performance duration should not exceed the established rules. The Jury reserves the right to stop the performance of the contestant if it exceeds the certain time limit.
